Anchorage

We left Denali Saturday and went to Big Lake, AK just outside Wasilla, AK. We all parked around Lee and Janet's (friends of Bob Beers) home on the lake. No, we did not see Sarah Palin but Lee and Janet do know them.

About 125 miles SW of Denali, we stopped for breakfast. This was the view from our table. A lot of people visiting Alaska never see it because of the mountains.

Another view

A picture of a picture show what it would look like if no clouds. Over 21,000 feet high, the highest point in North America. The covering you see is ice and never melts. It is one big glacier.
We saw this kind of view from Anchorage the last time we were here in '07

We all parked behind Lee's house .

The view through my windshield.

We had unlimited use of the boat, jet ski, and hot tub.

Faye is giving Betty a ride.

Even the dogs loved it here. Six dogs running loose and no problems.

Freddy even got along with everyone.

He loved the fresh mowed grass.

He also tried to steal Sunny's ball.

The cooks at work. Lee frying Halibut and his son grilling Baby Back Ribs. And look, Arnie taste testing.

These were great ribs but I ate more Halibut than ribs.

Now, the highlight of our stay there, FOOD. Halibut, Baby Back ribs and poached Salmon with all the trimmings.

Find a place, sit down and enjoy.

From the dock, 10:30 PM, still plenty of sunlight.

Alas, we had to leave Big Lake. These are mountains as we approach Anchorage.

We went out for dinner at a local Micro-Brewery last night. Today is kind of dreary so we decided to take a down day and just rest. Tomorrow we leave for the Kenai pennisula, on of the prettiest parts of Alaska and lots of fishing.
