Dawson Cith, YK

We are in Dawson City, Yukon now. Arrived here yesterday after a stopover in Pelly Crossing.

There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tails
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee.

Thje first verse of The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service.
Written about Lake Lebarge

Then on to Mom's Bakery for breakfast. A cinnamon roll, split in half and grilled. She was funny also.

Fishing along the way on Twin Lakes. Note the shorts and snow on the mountains in the background.

Freddy thought this was a great stop. He got to run loose. He even went swimming. Brrr

The scenery was great and you could see it easily because of the slow speed we had to travel. Lots of Frost Heaves". You have to get down to 30 MPH when you see them.

Five Fingers Rapids on the Yukon River that all river traffic had to go thru. Lots of boats were lost here.

 Moose Creek Lodge for lunch yesterday. Great home made bread and home fries.

Yukon Territory Canadian cowboy Cadillac. Need I say more?

As soon as we got to Dawson City, Cathy had to go Gold panning. She would have stayed there all day if I had let her.

A quick trip up to the Dome. Here on Summer Soltice, the sun does not set. You could sit up here 24 hours and see the sun go around you and never set.

Freddy had a long day. Now its nap time.

I  will try to Blog about Dawson City before I leave but may not be able to get on. Next stop, three day from no now, Chicken AK
