Sikeston, MO
We left Memphis headed for Sikeston, MO, 160 miles.
Crossing the Mississippi River
into Arkansas
and on to Missouri.
Sikeston is just a small town hat we are using as stopover.
We chose this place because of a restaurant, Lambert's Cafe. Original home of the "Throwed Rolls",
Established 1942.
The first day we went, on Friday at 2:45 PM, there was a 1.5 hour waiting list.
But, we were told by the campground host to call them for a pick-up. They picked us up at our site and when we got there, took us in through the
back door directly to a table.
The front porch with all the people waiting that we by-passed.
There re four rooms like this one.
Servers go around with "pass arounds", fried okra, fried potatoes & onions, black eyed peas and pasta & tomatoes. You can get these anytime.
If you want a roll, hold your hand up and someone will throw you one. I almost got hit in the head with one
Servers also go around with sorghum and applesauce. The rolls are fresh baked yeast rolls.
.
Check out the size of a glass of tea.
Finished frog legs.
It is touristy but not too expensive and very very good.
After we finished, we told the clerk we needed a ride back and within 5 minutes we were headed to our RV.
Tomorrow we head for Danville, MO, about 30 miles west of St. Louis. We hope to get some St. Louis style ribs.
