Left Hyder AK

We split from the group this morning. They have one more stop but we did not want to go there. We are now in Vanderhoof, BC.
The pictures  will tell how we got here.

We started out on the Cassier Highway. It is very remote. I am gassing up at one of the above ground fueling stations.

we stopped at Jade City. They claim to supply 92% of the worlds jade. They ship to China, India, Japan Korea and many other points.

The roads were not the best. Lots of gravel and dirt.

But the scenery was great.

We spent the night in a great campsite.

No hook-ups but great view of the lake.

all of our group we parked facing the lake

The roads were paved after leaving there

Again, the scenery was beautiful.

 This sign says it all.

This is the first glacier

The place to eat in Hyder. The husband goes fishing for all the fish, crabs and shrimp the wife serves. They also have a sea food market. Great food.

Bears were abundant.

Out fishing

We watched this big guy catch and eat 3 salmon.

Hyder, AK, population of 80, is probably one of the few  if not the only US city to not have a paved road. All roads are dirt. This is main street.

Cathy walking down main street. All mud

Their logo.

Lots of waterfalls,

Glaciers,

and Bears.

Leaving Hyder, we encountered a one lane bridge on a major road.

Lots of lilacs along the road.

Tomorrow we head for the US border. It will take us about 3 days if we don't find some place we want to stay for a few days. We will probably be out of touch until we cross the border.
