Casper WY

In Casper WY. Nice drive to here. We saw lots of Antelopes, the weather was ok and the roads were smooth.
Our campground is located between the North Platte River and the Rocky Mountains.

These shots were taken from inside our coach yesterday about 1/2 hour after we arrived.

Today we visited The Ft Caspar Museum. The town and fort were named after Lt. Caspar Collins. They used his first name because Ft Collins in CO was named after his father. They misspelled his name so the town and fort was named Casper. Later they changed the name of the fort to Caspar but not the town. Lt Caspar Collins was killed in an Indian battle.
The fort was rebuilt in 1936 as a WPA project

Early RV. Note the chimney out of the top. It had a wood stove and oven inside.

Cathy HAD to inspect the stables.

The barracks and mess hall.

When the Mormons came thru here heading for Utah, this is how they crossed the North Platte River.
After the Fort visit, it started raining. It is supposed to rain all night and tomorrow. Not a hard rain but just stay wet.
We are traveling north about 215 miles to Garryowen, MT to see The Little Big Horn battlefield. Guess we will travel in the rain.
