Newberry MI

After our repairs and another stay in the Walmart in Cadillac, MI, we headed back to the Upper Peninsula.

Back over the bridge, still one lane each way

Cathy taking a selfie trying not to think about the bridge

Me "two handing" it because of the narrow lanes.

normal back-up at the toll booth

and past Castle Rock to open road.

Castle Rock was a look out site for the early Indians and soldiers in this area.

We stopped in Newberry to go to the Tahquamenon Falls

The falls consist of the upper falls and the lower falls

Combined, they are the second largest falls east of the Mississippi River, second only to Niagara Falls.

The upper falls

I did not see where it was that "mighty"

Just to prove that we were here

The lower falls are split with an island in between

I finally found Paradise.

Actually the town was Paradise but this was paradise for a picnic. Lake Superior in the back ground.

Smoked Lake Michigan salmon, salmon spread, white Vermont sharp cheddar cheese and Club cracker washed down with Catabawa wine from Ertel Cellars in Batesville IN.

Then a wade into Lake Superior. This lake is cold and the air temp was 71 degrees but people were swimming when we got here.

And we saw fireweed for the first time since the last Alaska trip.
