Cody, WY

.
I left off when we got to the Escapee's rally in Gillette, WY  There were probably about 3000 coaches there. We attended several seminary and did a lot of shopping. All of these rallys have RV related vendors.
After the rally, on to Cody, Wy.

During our travels through Montana and Wyoming we have see many Pronghorn (Antelopes) but getting a picture of them is hard. When you stop to take a picture, they take off. They are the fastest animal in North America, spurts up to 60 MPH, Sustained speed of 40 MPH for 1/2 hours.
Cathy finally got this one.

Leaving Gillette, we saw the same wide open scenery as we had been seeing. Finally some snow capped mountains.

We made it to the mountains, Bighorn National Forest

The roads were winding and up and down. But it was slow so I could enjoy it.

The high pass was 9,700 ft. You can see the sign what lies ahead, about 10 miles if steep grade down.

The scenery got different, trees, cliffs, mountains, rivers, etc.

More.

And on into Cody.

Where we visited the Cody Museum.

Of course they had a statue of William F. Cody.

They have a gun wing that you could spend a full day and still not see all the guns.
Inside one of the cases was the gun used by James Arness in Gunsmoke and Richard Boone in Paladin.

There was one section dedicated to gunfighters of the old west.

A lot of them had ties with this area.

The old part of Cody.

On to Old Trail Town.

They built this town by transplanting cabins through out the area to here. All of these cabins were used as stated on their plaques.

This was Butch Cassiday's cabin at the Hole in the Wall.

They even found a saloon and moved it here.

With all these outlaws, gunfighters and lawmen, they had to have a hearse.
This one was immaculately restored.

More later about out trit to Boulder, Wy
