We went to Jamestown today.Very interesting. In 1994 a team of archeologist's started a 10 year dig to find the original Fort James that was the first perminate settlement in America. It was generally thought to have eroded into the James river. 15 years later, they are still digging. The 1st photo shows 1 of them digging in an old water well that the settlers had filled in. Every day they find more than 500 pieces of history in this dig. The second photo shows stuff that was found in the bucket of dirt in the 1st photo. She is holding some pieces of iron that she thinks are tools. The third photo shows a layout of what the fort should have looked like with the digs and fort wall in the background. The 4th shows what the barracks would have looked like before they covered the walls with mud and thatched the roof. Anyone that gets a chance should go there but go during the week. The archeologist's do not work on weekends. They have a museum that is full of thing that have been found. This is where Colonial America
started. Next week we are going to Yorktown, where Colonial America ended and the USA started. It is where the last battle of the revolution ended.
