Arizona and Utah
Out of Verde Valley toward Flagstaff
The usual AZ scenery
suddenly in a pine forest
then back to sagebrush
almost nothing
then the western edge of the Painted Desert
strange formations
On the Navajo reservation and past their jewelry stands
more open desert
with rock formations pushed out of the ground
headed toward the mountains
across the Colorado River
first water we have seen today
Now the climb up the mountains
Freddy says "Are we there yet?"
Yes we are in Jacob Lake, AZ
Today we went from 3314 ft elevation to 7920 ft
We have been to the south rim of the Grand Canyon several times
We wanted to see the north rim
We are here
While in the park we got to 9200 ft elevation.
some views of the north rim
totally different from the south rim
harder to see because of the trees
Not nearly as developed or as crowded
What can beat a picnic on the rim of the Grand Canyon?
leaving Jacob Lake and all the beautiful Ponderosa pines
going down
from 8000 ft to about 4680 ft
then into Utah
nice scenery
and different
and to our campground in Glendale UT. Half way between Bryce and Zion National Parks
Cooter's is in our park
Not a lot to see, but good food
scenery on the way to Bryce Canyon National Park
More scenery
Not the highest we have been on this trip but still makes breathing harder
Into Zion National Park
The other National Parks are viewed from the rim. At Zion you go down into the canyon
Much better view
I wish pictures could do this place justice
In and
out of tunnels
up and down mountain roads
to see scenes like this
or this
Around each curve is another specular view
We had Freddy with us so we did not take the shuttle.
We did stop for a picnic but I forgot to take a picture.
Next stop, Grand Junction, Colorado
